Mr. Henry I. Hewey, age 79, of Potsdam passed away on Friday, March 5th at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Ogdensburg, NY where he had been a patient since July, 18, 2008. There will be a burial at a later date at the Buckton Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Service. Condolences online can be sent at www.garnerfh.com.
Among Henry’s survivors are his four sons Gordon, James, Glen and John Hewey and a daughter Gloria Saxby. Henry I. Hewey was born on January 5, 1931 in Potsdam, NY to James Hewey and Irene Foicey. He attended Potsdam Schools. He married Kathyleen Mae Fleming. She died in 1993. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War from February 19, 1952 until his honorable discharge on January 27, 1954. He worked at the Potsdam Paper Mill for over 30 years. Contributions in Henry’s memory can be made to the American Legion Post 74 in Potsdam.
