Biography

Funeral service for Mrs. Elsie Elizabeth Miller, 87, of St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena and formerly of Debra Dr; Potsdam will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 11:00am at the Garner Funeral Home in Potsdam with Pastor Cliff Boice, of the Massena Baptist Church officiating. Burial in West Potsdam Cemetery will take place in the spring. Elsie passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Massena Memorial Hospital.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, February 25, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Heart or Diabetes Association or a charity of ones choice.

She is survived by four sons, Gilbert Miller of Potsdam; Robert and wife Marlyne Miller of Colton; Larry and wife Cheryl Miller of Madrid; Roger Miller of Colton; two daughters, Joan and O. George Cary and Shirley Miller, both of Potsdam and 18 grand; 46 great-grand and 3 great-great grandchildren and cousins.

A daughter-in-law Jean Wright-Miller, and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild predecease her.

Born May 20, 1922 in South Colton, she was the daughter of the late, John and Janet (Barton) Smith. She attended school in South Colton and Potsdam. On June 19, 1940 she married Richard G. Miller in Madrid; he predeceased her on February 6, 1962.

She was a member of the Debra Drive Seniors Group, Hill toppers of Parishville and Midtown Seniors. She enjoyed reading and embroidery.
