Funeral services for Sharon LaPoint Phillips, age 66, a resident of Fabius, NY, formerly of Norwood, NY, will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at 2 pm at the Knapp Station Community Church with Rev. Leon Sweeney officiating. Burial will follow the service at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville, NY. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Home in Potsdam, NY. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, the 13th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Condolences can be sent online @www.garnerfh.com.
Mrs. Phillips lovingly departed from our world on Thursday, February 11, 2010 in the town of Parishville at the home of her brother and sister-in-law’s house Robert and Patricia Phillips. She was under the care of her family and the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas E; one son, Thomas R. of Tully; two very precious grandchildren, Troy Thomas Phillips and Chelsea Theresa Phillips, both of Tully; one foster grandchild, Mary Catherine Estay of Layfayette, NY; one brother, William and Doris LaPoint of Knapps Station, NY; one sister, Renace and Wayne Ames of South Colton, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Patricia Phillips of Potsdam, NY; one foster brother, Albert (Chuck) and Sharon Turner of Rapid City, SD; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Dale McClure of Central Square, NY; sister-in-law Joan Phillips of North Bangor, NY; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and an aunt.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Theresa LaPoint; sister, Dona LaPoint Regan; nephews, Timothy John Regan and Robert John Phillips Jr.; four brother-in-laws, Bernard, Charles, Donald and Ronald Phillips; and two sister-in-laws, Marion Phillips Scovil and Lora Phillips Huto.
Mrs. Phillips was born June 13, 1943 in Potsdam, NY to Gerald and Theresa Pearl LaPoint. She graduated from Parishville-Hopkinton Central School in 1961.
She was wed to Thomas E. Phillips on May 26, 1973 in Parishville, NY.
Mrs. Phillips was a long time St. Lawrence County Employee, beginning in 1964, and retired in 1999, as confidential secretary to the late sheriff Keith Knowlton.
Mrs. Phillips enjoyed her precious grandchildren, spending time with her husband, being with family, her good friends in Fort Meyers, Florida, as well as knitting and reading mysteries.
Mrs. Phillips and her husband previously lived in Norwood, NY until 2004, when they moved to Fabius, NY, to be closer to their son and his family.
